| Field rule | Nineteen character identifier. The donor identifier element must follow the following rules: Only numeric and upper case alpha characters permitted (A-Z, 0-9). Space and punctuation characters are not permitted. (It is recommended to avoid the letters O and I in the identifier to avoid confusion with the digits 0 and 1) Fixed length, 15 characters. If the donor identifier used by the registry is less than 15 characters then it must be padded with leading zeros.
